Repeal Part of the End of Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution

The Whig Party National Committee, by a unanimous 1 to 0 vote, has endorsed a Constitutional amendment repealing part of the end of section 9 of the U.S. Constitution. The National Committee has established a Task Force to Repeal Part of the End of Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution that will guide efforts at this task. It is hoped that someone will soon volunteer to serve on this important Task Force.

This effort is crucial to our nation’s future. The end of Section 9, the part that the Whig Party National Committee seeks to repeal, prohibits Americans accepting titles of nobility. This is just wrong. This prevented Rudy Guiliani from being knighted by the Queen of England when she wanted to do so. It would have been cool to have had someone named Sir Rudy. This also prevented Bob Dylan from being voted into the Order of British Empire, which then prevented him from returning his Order in protest of something or other. We’re certain Bob Dylan would have thought of something to protest, and that probably would have been one fantastic song.

Americans should be allowed to have titles of nobility, and we don’t mean such acceptable titles of Sultan of Swat and Queen of Disco. We think that wealthy business leaders should be able to purchase titles. What is wrong with American politics is that wealthy business leaders spend money to obtain favorable government treatment for their economic interests. It would be far better for all if, instead of giving the rich further breaks allowing them to get even further economically advanced, that rich business leaders provide their political contributions towards instead obtaining titles.

It would be a better use of public resources, instead of directing inflated government contracts towards campaign contributors, that a corporate executive instead use campaign contributions to be designated a Duke or a Count or, in this understanding era, a Duchess, What corporate leader wouldn’t look at access to campaign contributions and decide, instead of obtaining a tax break for a business, that it would be far cooler to purchase a Lordship title?

Selling lordships and other aristocratic titles could become a major revenue source for our government. Finally there would become a means to get the rich to pay something close to taxes, plus it would get them to do so willingly.

Please join us in this crusade. Run up and tell people that we need to repeal the end of section 9 of the U.S. Constitution. If they refuse, remind them that they may sometime be subjects in your fiefdom, and then they’ll be sorry they didn’t help you
